IronKey CEO issues warning surrounding suspicious emails

David Jevens, CEO of IronKey warns consumers to watch out for more sophisticated phishing emails.

Due to a potential leak of millions of emails from a large advertising company, there is a very real possibility these people will be targeted by scammers.

While it isn’t uncommon to receive an email from a scammer claiming to be from your bank, or power company, it is worrying because the scammers also have access to other personal information.

According to David Jevens,

“This data breach is going to facilitate that in a big way. Now they know which institution people bank with, they know their name and they have their email address,”

he goes on to say

“You’re not going to see typical phishing where 90 percent of it ends up in spam traps and is easily detected. This is going to be highly targeted,”

Whilst the leaks were related to USA based companies, it is a reminder to be wary when checking your email. If it looks suspicious, ring the company and ask.
